User Task Force – HMI/MU Market Survey

We have been engaged by the National Resource Council of Canada (NRC) to conduct a IEC 61850 Market Assessment that gauges where end-users are heading with their IEC 61850 deployments. To support this request, we have prepared a survey with 17 Questions that should take <5 minutes to complete.

This is purely optional, so please don’t feel obligated to take the survey. The NRC has given us free reigns to decide on the focal topics within IEC 61850, so we opted to focus on the “top” and “bottom” aspects of a Digital Substation. The “top” aspect being the Substation HMI Application and the work being done under IEC 61850-6-2. The “bottom” aspect focuses on sampled value based applications.

Survey will load below for users in the END USERS Group only…

Survey Q&A:

1. Where do results go?

Results will be summarized and provided as part of a market assessment report that goes to the NRC. Members who complete the survey will obtain the results. There are no cost implications in any regards. Results will be distributed to participants on June 14th.

2. Are the results anonymous?

Yes. All responses are 100% anonymous. Survey does not require any of the participants contact details.

3. Who can participate in the survey?

For now it has only been sent to the members of the Digital Substation User Task Force. Ryan may be extending/creating another survey for the general public, but he’ll keep you posted on his intentions.

4. How many respondents are expected?

Based on previous User Task Force Surveys, we don’t foresee challenges with having a large enough sample to ensure a statistically significant response.

5. Who is responsible for conducting the survey?

Ryan Baht is administering the survey. He will also be managing the future logistics of the Digital Substation User Task Force and DigitalSubstations.com.
